Chisinau, 11 May /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu attended the 36th meeting of Governing Council of Community of Democracies and announced Moldova's decision to join the organisation, the MAEIE press service has reported.

In recent years, progress has been made in protecting human rights and building a more inclusive society. Our results are reflected in international rankings such as the World Press Freedom Index and the Gender Equality Index. We are now 28th in press freedom and 16th in gender equality globally.

"I reiterated that our country's strategic objective is the accession to the European Union - a path to a more democratic, more prosperous and more stable society. We know that this is not an easy goal to achieve, but we are determined to implement the necessary reforms and meet the criteria to become a full member state of the European Union", said Popescu.
