International Painting Biennial nominates winners in Moldova

Chisinau, 13 May /MOLDPRES/ - The inauguration and the awarding of the prizes of the Chisinau International Painting Biennial, the eighth edition, took place at the headquarters of the National Art Museum of Moldova on 12 May evening. This is one of the most important events in the visual arts field organized in Moldova.
In the beginning of the action, the director of the National Art Museum of Moldova, Tudor Zbarnea, said that 123 fine artists from 28 countries participated in the current edition in the contest with over 140 works. They were selected out of 360 fine artists.
Attending the event, the secretary general of the Culture Ministry, Andrei Chistol, addressed a message of greetings on behalf of Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan. The message reads, inter alia, that the Chisinau-2023 International Painting Biennial, which is at its 8th edition, claimed a place of prestige on the cultural stage of the international public space of visual arts. In the context, Ambassador of Austria to Moldova Stella Avallone said that the International Painting Biennial aligned with a string of events, one of which is the Europe Day. At the same time, the deputy director of the Mihai Eminescu Romanian Cultural institute in Chisinau, Narcis Afrasinei, noted that this event was a holiday of painting. At the same time, the head of the Fine Artists’ Union of Moldova, Florina Breazu, said that this exhibition placed Moldova in the international context, which the country is willing to join.
The event was organized under the patronage of the Culture Ministry, by the National Art Museum of Moldova, Fine Artists’ Union of Moldova, and the AMPRENTE Art Centre, in partnership with Mihai Eminescu Romanian Cultural Institute in Chisinau; the Chisinau city hall’s culture and cultural heritage general department; Austria’s Embassy in Moldova; European Union National Institutes for Culture, Moldova, the German Cultural Centre AKZENTE, etc.
The exhibition will be opened till 11 June.
