Moldovan PM discusses with local authorities from southern Taraclia district

Chisinau, 23 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean has emphasized the importance of the cooperation of the local public administration with representatives of de-concentrated services, in order to develop the communities and improve the people’s living standards, at a meeting with local authorities from the southern Taraclia district, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

The PM said that, through cooperation, decision-makers would identify the best solutions to overcome the current challenges locally. He emphasized that a common priority of the central and local authorities stayed Moldova’s integration into the European Union.  

„The citizens from southern Moldova have the same problems as their fellows from the other regions which I visited – improved local infrastructure, better living conditions and qualitative public services. Our goal is to bring Europe in our country, to modernize the schools for our children and create new jobs. At the same time, we are responsible to back the entrepreneurs who increase and support local communities. Moldova closer to the European Union means modern infrastructure, investments, developed economy and respect for the cultural diversity,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.    

The participants in the meeting discussed the benefits of the implementation of the European Village programme – a programme which will be extended for long term. The local authorities’ representatives appreciated the programme’s contribution to the settlements’ sustainable development. Also, the mayors referred to the current needs, among which the extension of the aqueduct networks, rehabilitation of public roads, as well as the repair of the social centre from Taraclia, meant for children from socially vulnerable families.         

The prime minister also pointed out the zero tolerance for the blamable cases of civil servants who failed to fulfill their duty. He reminded about the publicly reported situation as to the pollution of waters nearby the Tvardita settlement and urged decision-makers to be guided by the interest of the citizens and the law.
