EPC SUMMIT in Moldova: Bulboaca settlement, Mimi Castle give final touches in preparation for event

Chisinau, 24 May /MOLDPRES/ - One of the most beautiful destination of Moldova, the wine and vine complex Mimi Castle, placed in the Bulboaca settlement, central Anenii Noi district, gives the final touches in the preparations for the Summit of the European Political Community (EPC). In this settlement on 1 June, Moldova will have the honour to host, for the first time ever, about 50 heads of state and government from Europe and European Officials.    

Today, more journalists from media institutions of Moldova, as well as accredited ones on behalf of foreign media were able to make the ‘’general rehearsal’’ in the area of the summit’s carrying out and took knowledge on the spot about the principal details as to the publicizing of the event.    

The journalists, representatives of news agencies, written media and TV stations had possibility to make a symbolic tour, according to the summit’s agenda, and were guided by the Moldovan president’s adviser for foreign affairs and strategic communication, Olga Rosca.    

„The preparations at Mimi are in the full swing, the preparations in Bulboaca are in full swing; it is about a complex event, which we prepare with the partners’ assistance, according to all international security protocols. The local residents are aware that they will have to observe some measures needed for forums of this level; yet, they accept them with pleasure and are proud that they will be in the focus of the entire world, which will keep an eye on their settlement on summer day,’’ Olga Rosca said.     

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the Presidency’s representative noted that the presence of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the Summit would be prompted by the situation on the front, the priorities of the current situation, as well as the security factors.    

According to Olga Rosca, to publicize the summit in Bulboaca, over 700 applications have been received on behalf of national, international media institutions, among which from the USA, Japan, etc. ‘’The applications are under consideration and are to be confirmed on the days to come,’’ Rosca specified.    

The journalists accredited at the event will have a press centre, endowed with the equipment necessary for such an activity, from where they will be able to spread information and the stories provided for in the agenda.   

The local authorities from Bulboaca are also fully involved in the summit’s organization. According to the Bulboaca mayor, Ion Berzoi, all works planned to this end have been carried out at the level of more than 90 per cent. ‘’Only minor activities of arrangement, sanitation are left, so that our village is ready for the guests. So far, about 600,000 lei has been spend from the local budget on this purpose,’’ Berzoi said.  

At the same time, the mayor also said that, on the day of the summit, the local residents would be restricted in their movement; yet, the citizens needing to move will have special badges allowing them to leave whey they need.   

During the today’s tour, the media representatives learned also certain details about the guests’ menu. They said that, among the dishes cooked for the European officials, there would be a traditional dessert, regarded as a special dish in the national cuisine.

The EPC Summit will take place in the Bulboaca settlement, Anenii Noi district, on 1 June. The event will bring together about 50 heads of state and government from Europe and European Union officials. According to President Maia Sandu, on 1 June, Moldova will be the host of the Summit of the European Political Community - a symbolic moment, which represents both an international recognition for Moldova and a huge responsibility. „We will bring for discussion vital issues dealing with the war and peace, the future of Europe – of those more than 750 million people who work on the European continent. I.e., with Moldova’s future as well, as European state, which has chosen its firm way to EU,’’ the head of state said.    

The hosting by Moldova of the Summit of the European Political Community will contribute also to the development of the country’s economy both for long and for short terms. Experts estimate that the firms from Moldova, especially of the HoReCa sector, will have additional sales worth from 6 million lei to 10 million lei (500,000 euros). Experts also say that the EPC Summit will provide more quality instruments to the country’s entire system of economic diplomacy, in order to turn to good account opportunities of promoting exports and attracting investments.
