Moldova to receive grant worth 5.6 million euros on behalf of top European bank

Chisinau, 24 May /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will benefit from a grant worth 5.6 million euros on behalf of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), meant for the carrying out of projects on solid waste management. The parliamentary commission for foreign policy and European integration today approved a co-report to the draft on ratification of the Agreement on Grant with EBRD, for the implementation of the Solid Waste in Moldova project.
Equipment for the transportation, sorting, recycling and obliteration of waste in the Ungheni, Nisporeni and Calarasi districts will be purchased through the project financed by the aforementioned bank.
The project will be implemented through the National Office of Implementation of Projects in the Environment Sector. At the same time, a coordination committee is to be created for the supervision/monitoring of the project’s implementation, made up of representatives of the Environment Ministry, Finance Ministry, State Chancellery, European Investment Bank (EIB), EBRD and others. The project’s duration of implementation is planned for the 2023-2027 years.
The Agreement on Grant between Moldova and EBRD on the financing of investment projects, aimed at developing the infrastructure in the solid waste management sector, was signed in Chisinau on 30 March 2023.
