Paternity leave to be able to be fragmented in Moldova

Chisinau, 24 May /MOLDPRES/ - The paternity leave will be able to be fragmented. The parliamentary commission for economy, budget and finances has approved a draft which sees the amendment of the legislation in the field.  

One of the provisions of the draft will provide more flexibility in the way the paternity leave is used. The father will have right to use the leave fragmented in parts, of which one part will be of at least 5 calendar days during 12 months after the birth of the child.  

At the same time, the parents, who immediately or shortly after the childcare leave enter another maternity leave will have more options of establishing the allowance for the maternity leave and the child-care allowance.  

The draft law also has measures of support for families which adopt children, through the establishment of more social leaves for parents who are in process of adoption, adopted a child or placed a child in the service of guardianship in their family. Among them, there are the leave partially paid for the adoptive parents for the period of entrusting, which will last from 60 to 90 days; the leave fully paid to adoptive parents for a period of 90 days after the day of adoption, no matter the age of the child; the paternity leave paid in the first 12 months after the adoption day for a period of 15 days; the leave partially paid with duration of 6 months for taking care of the adopted child, who is older than three years on the day of adoption.
