Moldovan National Food Safety Agency unveils most important actions carried out in 2023

Chisinau, 25 May /MOLDPRES/ - The National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) has presented the most important actions carried out by the institutions this year. Among them, there is the getting by Moldova of the right to export processed fowl and consumption eggs (A category) to the European Union and the digitalization of the process of issuance of authorization-type permissive acts.
Thus, ANSA presently issues online four permissive acts, which means that the food sector operators submit the application and receive the act online, without going to the Agency’s headquarters. The applicants save time and the issuance process has become more transparent, with over 15,000 acts issued annually. Moreover, as of 1 May, the phyto-sanitary certificates issued are protected through the application of the QR code. Thus, any attempt of forging is excluded and the international trade of fruits and vegetables is facilitated.
At the same time, according to ANSA, the procedures of sanitary and veterinary certification were optimized and the conditions were regulated, in order to allow the sale of the surplus of food products of animal origin from households.
In the context, the national plan of residua for food products of animal origin was completed with new products and was presented on term, at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety. The concerned document stays at the basis of the control carried out by ANSA.
Other actions implemented this year regard the change of the procedure of withdrawal of non-conforming food products and strengthening the control at import, based on the assessment of the risks established at the European Union’s level.
According to institution’s data, the performance indexes for 2022 were carried out at the level of 100 per cent and the Agency this year signed two documents on external cooperation with the competent authorities of Romania and the ones from Azerbaijan.
The government has recently approved a decision on ANSA’s reorganization, in order to strengthen the control capacity.
