New way of cancer's screening to be implemented in Moldova

Chisinau, 26 May /MOLDPRES/ - A new way of colorectal cancer’s screening will be implemented in Moldova. The piloting of the colorectal cancer’s screening through the iFOB testing was launched at the Oncological Institute today.

According to the Health Ministry, the new iFOB tests will be distributed to the health centres from Cahul and Calarasi, including institutions from the rural environment, Centres of Family Physicians from Balti, as well as to the Botanica Territorial Medical Association from Chisinau. Thus, the people from these cities and districts, with ages between 50 and 55 years, will be able to appeal to family physician to make the iFOB test. The new screening way contributes to the early detection of the colorectal cancer pathologies.

According to specialists, the colorectal cancer is one of the most spread oncological diseases in the world, including Moldova. As many as 1,294 new cases were registered in Moldova in 2022.
