Moldovan government rectifies state budget for 2023

Chisinau, 31 May /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today rectified the state budget for 2023. Under the document, both the revenues and the expenses of the state budget increase by 1.406 billion lei, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Respectively, the state budget revenues grow by 2.2 per cent and will stand at 66.274 billion lei and the expenses – by 1.7 per cent and will amount to 84.602 billion lei. At the same time, the budget deficit stays at 18.3 billion lei.
The budget’s change was triggered by the increase in the inflows of external grants for budgetary support in an amount of 94 million dollars – resources directed, to a great extent, for the development of the national economy.
The principal economic measures regard the additional allocation of resources for infrastructure and local development:
- increase in the road fund by 736 million lei for works of repair and maintenance of national public roads;
- backing of small- and medium-sized enterprises, including the 373 programme through programmes of the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA) – 338 million lei (including from external sources);
- increase in the national fund for regional and local development – 320 million lei for the implementation of projects within the European Village programme.
- increase of the national fund for the development of agriculture and rural environment – 100 million lei.
The rectification also envisages increases of expenses for implementing measures in the fields of culture, sport and youth, education, healthcare. Also, 86.1 million lei will be used to finance the personal assistance service, 50 million lei - for the capital repair of intensive therapy units from medical and sanitary institutions; five million lei – for the Drug Store in you commune programme.
Another ten million lei will be used for the restoration and endowment of the infrastructure for the education in kindergartens; another 22 million lei – for awarding prizes and scholarships to sportspeople with performances at sports competitions.
The rectification implies also the increase in salaries for some categories of public sector employees who work in the central public administration starting from 1 July 2023. As much as 89.8 million lei was earmarked for this measure.
