Romanian president says EU, other partners are here for Moldova

Chisinau, 1 June /MOLDPRES/ - The consolidation of Moldova means also the consolidation of the strategic resilience of Europe. Moldova’s citizens are not alone. EU and the other partners are here for Moldova. Romanian President Klaus Iohannis today conveyed a message to this effect. The Romanian official came to Moldova to participate in the Summit of the European Political Community (EPC Summit).       

„I address all citizens of Moldova: you are not alone. EU and the other partners are here for Moldova. Moldova’s consolidation means also the strengthening of Europe’s strategic resilience. We must do so, that our support becomes more visible for the citizens of Moldova. They should see concrete improvements in their daily life. This is essential for a success story in Moldova,’’ Klaus Iohannis said.    

The Romanian president noted that Moldova faced two big challenges: the reforms needed for the integration into EU and counteracting the hybrid threats, which aim at making the country leave the track of stability and resilience. The official also said that Romania would provide solid support, in order to help Moldova cope with these challenges and shared its experience, so that the negotiations on Moldova’s accession to EU can start this year.   

Klaus Iohannis said that the Summit organized by Moldova today ‘’must reaffirm the support of the participating states for Ukraine and its people and the reestablishment of peace.’’
