Romanian president says stable, strong Moldova in everybody's interest

Chisinau, 1 June /MOLDPRES/ - The security has more sides. I think not necessarily about the military security, in this respect, as Moldova declared itself neutral; but we talk about, for instance, the energy security, the state’s stability and so on and it is in everybody’s interest that Moldova is and remains stable. Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, present at the Summit of the Political Community, has made statements to this effect.        

At the EPC Summit today, the Romanian head of state signed a document, through which Romania supports Ukraine’s accession to the NATO. Asked by journalists whether Moldova might eventually join the NATO, the Romanian president noted that the Europeans must help Ukraine and Moldova. 

“If we do not manage to help Ukraine and Moldova, this means that we have lost. But this is not the only reason for which we help Ukraine and Moldova. We do this, as this is correct. Because in my opinion, they are part of the democratic Europe. They are part of our community and here we already can realize which is the value added of this European format. So, Moldova and Ukraine are from ours; as far as the NATO summit is concerned, we will surely discuss the possible variants; yet, a so-called calendar does not exit. We will see whether it is useful for Moldova or not, or whether this would induce rather undesired reactions. Obviously, for Moldova too, it would be wrong for us to focus only on the European integration aspect. The security has more sides.
