Chisinau, 1 June /MOLDPRES/ – The summit hosted by Moldova today proves how valuable the European Political Community is. We have showed that we are a strong and united family, which acts together, in order to make the European continent stronger, more united and more peaceful. President Maia Sandu made statements to this effect at the end of the Summit of the European Political Community (EPC Summit) today evening.

„It was a pleasure for us to host the Summit of the leaders from the entire Europe here in Moldova, in the Bulboaca village. We are particularly grateful for every support which we have received. Today here, 20 km far from the border with Ukraine, we brought together the entire continent, in order to reaffirm our collective and firm decision to bring back peace to Europe. Today we showed our strength and unity in a moment when the stability of our continent is in danger,’’ Maia Sandu said.

The head of state noted that the presence of the European leaders in Moldova was a strong proof that Moldova is not alone. ‘’Your participation makes us be proud that we hosted this summit. Your presence makes us more confident as ever in our future as democratic, prosperous and free country, as country which is on an irreversible way of joining the European Union,’’ Maia Sandu added.

The president said that the participants in the today’s meeting had discussed ‘’about security, about the need to protect the European continent from war, aggression and hybrid threats.’’ ‘’We everybody agreed that we would continue our efforts to go the road of integration of our continent for a greater strategic cooperation, a better connectivity and more actions in terms of energy, resilience and climate,’’ the head of state said.

The official noted that the Summit had been focused on aspects of pan-European importance and, at the same time, allowed Moldova to speed up concrete projects which deepen the country’s integration with the rest of Europe. At the same time, according to Maia Sandu, the meeting ended with more concrete results for Moldova. Among them, there is the decision to lower the tariffs for the roaming services with the EU countries, the launch of the European Union Partnership Mission in Moldova, a new package of assistance worth about 1.6 billion euros and the providing by Norway of a non-refundable financing of 50 million euros.

Moldova today hosted the second Summit of the European Political Community. The first meeting of the Community was held in the Czech Republic in last autumn and the next one will take place in Spain.
