Moldovan president says Moldova does not renounce Transnistrian region on way to EU

Chisinau, 1 June /MOLDPRES/ - We do not renounce the Transnistrian region. We work on both dimensions – fulfilling the conditions formulated by the European Commission, carrying out the reform programmes and settlement of the Transnistrian conflict. President Maia Sandu today made statements to this effect, following the summit of the European Political Community.

„The more we advance on the European integration way, the more we will improve the citizens’ living standards; the more safety will be on the right bank of Dniester, the greater will be the support of the citizens from the left bank of Dniester for the country’s reintegration,’’ the head of state said.

Also today, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said that the Transnistrian conflict would not a hindrance for Moldova to join EU.
