Moldovan PM has bilateral meetings at EPC Summit

Chisinau, 1 June /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s European integration way and the joint efforts of the European states to maintain the peace and security in the region were subjects discussed at today’s meetings of Prime Minister Dorin Recean with his European counterparts, on the sidelines of the second Summit of the European Political Community, held in Moldova, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.    

At a meeting with his Swedish counterpart Ulf Kristersson, PM Dorin Recean thanked Sweden, which holds the Presidency’s of the EU’s Council, for the support for backing Moldova’s European integration way. The sides referred to the mechanism of improving the combating of the misinformation and strengthening the security. The sides also touched upon the joint projects implemented by Sweden in Moldova in the field of economic development, strengthening the democracy and environmental protection. Prime Minister Dorin Recean reiterated Moldova’s firm decision to integrate into the European Union, highlighting that the country shares the common democratic values with the EU states.      

PM Dorin Recean also met Prime Minister of North Macedonia Dimitar Kovačevski. The two PMs discussed both state’s experience in the process of integration into the European Union. The officials were unanimous in the idea of deepening the bilateral relations in fields of common interest.   

The development of the strategic partnership, the social and investment relations between Moldova and Bulgaria were subjects tackled by PM Dorin Recean with Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev. The officials referred to the regional security situation, as well as to possibilities of developing the commercial and economic relations between the two states. Recean stressed Bulgaria’s considerable support for the backing of the Bulgarian minority from Moldova.    

The solid and prompt support, provided to Moldova in the process of management of refugees’ crisis, was appreciated at a meeting between PM Dorin Recean and Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenković. The Croatian official appreciated the way Moldova managed to cope with the challenges and, at the same time, to continue the process of aligning with the European standards. The Moldovan PM thanked for Croatia’s firm support for Moldova’s European integration way and emphasized the efforts undertaken by the authorities to reform the justice, combat the corruption and improve the economy.         

Prime Minister of Belgium Alexander de Croo reiterated his country’s support for the process of Moldova’s domestic transformation on the way of integration into the European Union, at a meeting with PM Dorin Recean. The officials approached possibilities of deepening the bilateral agenda, especially in the economic, investments and social sectors. In this respect, the sides tackled also aspects on the opening of Belgium’s Embassy in Chisinau on 1 November this year. Prime Minister Alexander de Croo appreciated the support and solidarity showed by Moldova for Ukraine.     

Also, Prime Minister Dorin Recean had a meeting with PM of Iceland Katrín Jakobsdóttir. The interlocutors discussed perspectives of developing the political dialogue between the two states and the cooperation in diverse sectors, especially in the energy sector. The Moldovan prime minister congratulated Katrín Jakobsdóttir for the successful finishing of Iceland’s Presidency at the EU Council.    

The agenda of the Moldovan MP’s discussions ended with Prime Minister of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Xavier Betel. The officials touched upon the organization, in the long run, of a Moldovan-Luxembourg forum of business people, in order to boost the economic, commercial and investment cooperation between the two states.
