Chisinau, June 2. /MOLDPRES/- The implementation of joint projects in the economic, infrastructure, energy, internal affairs, defense, agriculture and regional development were the main topics discussed by Prime Minister Dorin Recean with Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

Recean thanked his Czech counterpart for participating in the second edition of the European Political Community Summit, as well as for all the expertise offered in organizing this historic event, held yesterday in Bulboaca.

"It is a historic Summit for our country. It is a successful Summit for the entire consolidated Europe, a Europe that knows how to respond to the threats, challenges, but also the opportunities that will appear as a result of these changes", said Recean.

Also, the Moldovan official spoke about the European agenda of our country, highlighting the efforts made to carry out reforms and fulfill the nine recommendations of the European Commission.

"We continue to focus on improving the justice system and the fight against corruption, but especially on strengthening administrative capacities, strengthening state institutions and ensuring the country's security. The Czech Republic has always been with us, including through programs aimed at improving people's lives. In recent years, more than 50 projects have been carried out, with a total value of 14 million euros. We continue to count on the support of the authorities in Prague for the opening of negotiations for our country's accession to the EU by the end of this year," said Recean.

The Czech premier appreciated the good conduct of the Summit of the European Political Community and assured our country of all the necessary support in advancing on the European path.

"It is significant that the European Political Community Summit was organized specifically here, a few kilometers from the war in Ukraine. It is a sign that the Republic of Moldova is important for the entire European community. I am glad that we have close bilateral relations in the field of the economy, but we are open to expanding and deepening the collaboration in the segment of security, energy, infrastructure and smart cities", Petr Fiala said.

The counterparts' discussions also focused on increasing exports, attracting Czech companies interested in investing in our country and developing new projects in transport, green energy and IT. The Czech counterpart announced the opening in Chisinau in August of the office of the Czech military attaché, which will deepen cooperation in the defense sector.
