Chisinau, June 5. /MOLDPRES/- On an official visit to Italy, Speaker Igor Grosu met with a group of Moldovans living in Milan and Padua. The discussions focused on current topics, including the problems generated by the war in Ukraine or the reforms initiated by Chisinau authorities, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

"We are aware that some processes are taking longer and we want everything to happen more quickly, but things are already moving. The other days, the European Union announced the sanctioning of some Moldovan citizens who threatened the stability and security of our country. The European Union helps us stop those who want to destabilize the country and block our future. All those who impoverished and betrayed the national interest over the years will answer to the law. On June 1, the whole world saw that the Republic of Moldova is not alone, it can enjoy strong partners in our European path", he said.

The official noted the interest shown by Moldovan citizens, who settled down to live abroad. "The Italian diaspora has always been active and involved in the most decisive moments for the fate of the Republic of Moldova. Now, on May 21, hundreds of Moldovans from different cities of Italy, said bluntly that Moldova is European and that our country's place is among the free countries of the European Union", he said.

On 4-7 June, Grosu is on an official visit to Italy. Deputies Galina Sajin and Mihai Druță are members of the parliamentary delegation accompanying the head of the legislature on his visit to Italy. The official visit's agenda includes meetings with the leadership of the Italian Parliament - the president of the Senate, Ignazio La Russa, and the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Lorenzo Fontana. Also, the delegation of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova will discuss with parliamentarians from the committees for foreign policy in the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, as well as with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Edmondo Cirielli. Grosu will also participate in the inauguration of the Moldovan-Italian Friendship Parliamentary Group, which was recently established in the Italian Parliament. In Rome, he will discuss investment opportunities in the Republic of Moldova with representatives of several Italian companies.
