Flashmob of licence holders after decision by Moldova's Economic Development and Digitalization Ministry to introduce cash registers

Chisinau, 5 June /MOLDPRES/ - A new protest by licence holders today was staged outside the government building, after the Economic Development and Digitalization Ministry is set to oblige the licence holders to use cash registers. Following the action, Economic Development and Digitalization Minister Dumitru Alaiba came up with a reaction, noting that the ‘’cash register is not negotiated.’’       

The minister wrote that he knew well that some licence holders did not want to accept the new conditions.   

“Today, I had some discontented licence holders. I am sorry that I was not in place to go out and discuss with them. I discuss in markets; I would have discussed outside the government building too. The reform of the licence is the most complicated conversation which I must have with my colleagues; yet, we do not avoid it and we will not do this. One month is left till the transition to the individual entrepreneurial activity. This is a much more transparent and more civilized form of commerce. The traders will be obliged to have cash registers. This is not negotiated and we will not give this up. Any commercial activity should be accompanied by a cash register and everybody must pay the correct share of taxes.  This is only normal. Given that some patent holders still have unclear things, I asked very much the head of the Fiscal Service to instruct that this week all district heads of the Fiscal Service go to markets and explain to people all details of the transition. Additionally, each licence holder is called and his/her questions are answered individually. Also, people will receive by mail clear-cut information, explained in steps,’’ Minister Alaiba said.                

The economic development and digitalization minister noted that some licence holders had already implemented the new conditions. ‘’The Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA) prepares an instrument, through which the cost of the cash register will be compensated to people. We do our utmost to urge people, inform them, exempt them from falsehoods and manipulations, help them in this transition, decrease the degree of uncertainty to the minimum. I care much about the entrepreneurs. Any kind of entrepreneur. And the current licence holders are the truest mini-entrepreneurs. I want us to support them and help them develop. I know, some of the current licence holders do not want to accept the new conditions. We have been discussing for more than half a year. Just as I have said: the cash register is not negotiable,’’ the minister added.
