Contest for selection of candidates for office of Ombudsman for rights of child launched in Moldova

Chisinau, 5 June /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament has informed about the launch of a contest for the election of candidates for the office of Ombudsman for the rights of the child. People interested can submit the file till 30 June 2023.  

Under the regulation on the organization and holding of the contest, the candidates for the office of Ombudsman for the rights of the child must cumulatively meet more conditions: to be citizen of Moldova; not to be subjected to measure of judicial protection in form of guardianship and should have a length of service of at least ten years and a well-known activity in the defence sector and promotion of human rights.  

Also, candidates should enjoy an irreproachable reputation; should not have had, in the last five years, in the criminal records on the professional integrity, notes on the negative result of the professional integrity test for the infringement of the legislation, in order not to allow corruption manifestations. Another condition of participation in the contest is the lack of criminal antecedents, as well as of the interdiction to hold a public office, which comes from a damage and inspection report of the National Integrity Authority.     

The contest will be held in two phases – submission and admissibility of files and the interview. All candidates due to get the votes of the majority of the members of the special commission for the selection of the candidates for the position of Ombudsman for the rights of the child will be put forward to parliament for appointment to office.  

The contest for the selection of candidates for the office of Ombudsman for the rights of the child was launched, after the mandate of Maia Banarescu had expired.
