Moldova to deliver consignment of humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, seriously hit by floods

Chisinau, 9 June /MOLDPRES/ - A consignment of international humanitarian assistance worth 4.2 million lei will be provided to Ukraine, for the management of the ecological and humanitarian consequences triggered by the destruction of the dam at Nova Kakhovka. A decision to this end was approved at a today’s meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE), chaired by Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
The consignment of assistance includes water pumping stations, inflatable boats, food products, as well as equipment needed for removing the consequences of the floods. The assets will be provided from reserves of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations and Material Reserves Agency.
According to data provided by the Ukrainian authorities, more than 2,600 houses were flooded and about 1,700 people were evacuated from the calamity-hit region, in the wake of the destruction of the Nova Kakhovka dam.
