Moldovan education and research ministry awards prizes to sportspeople, coaches with performance

Chisinau, 9 June /MOLDPRES/ - Sportspeople from Moldova, in the first five months of 2023, have got 99 medals at European and World Championships, of which 31 medals are golden, 26 – silver and 42 – bronze ones. The Education and Research Ministry (MEC) awarded prizes to sportspeople and their coaches at a festive ceremony today.

The development of sport is one MEC’s priorities. The budget allocated for the sports activities, prizes and scholarships this year is of about 185 million lei and it will be soon supplied by another 22 million lei. The overall value of prizes awarded is of 4.5 million lei.

Presently, 143 sportspeople benefit from monthly scholarships on behalf of the Education and Research Ministry. The sum monthly provided for these scholarships is of over 2.1 million lei and the total sum for sportspeople’s scholarships for the 2023 year is of about 25 million lei.
