Chisinau, 10 June /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean has participated in an international forum titled, Border security in context of new regional realities. The event is organized on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the institutional foundation of Moldova’s Border Police. Attending the event was also President Maia Sandu.

The Moldovan PM expressed gratitude for the policemen’s dedication in ensuring the security at the state border and thanked them for courage, devotion and professionalism.

At the same time, Prime Minister Dorin Recean emphasized the role of the Border Police in the protection of the country’s borders, especially in the context of the Russian aggression against Ukraine.

„From now on, we have even more work to do, for two reasons. We have to protect 1,200 km of border with the active war area. The process of accession to the European Union is equally important and this means that we must assume more responsibilities as regards the protection of the European Union’s border and to prove that we can be reliable partner and security provider,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.

It is worth mentioning that about 3,000 employees work at the Border Police. Last year, over 19 million crossings of Moldova’s border were registered, i.e. about 52,000 ones per day, as well as almost 5 million transport means which crossed the country’s borders.
