Moldovan president says financings on behalf state for small-, medium-sized businesses increase five-fold, minimum salary doubles

Chisinau, 9 September /MOLDPRES/ - The financings on behalf of the state for the small- and medium-sized businesses have increased five-fold against the previous governance, from 200 million lei to 1.3 billion lei. At the same time, the minimum salary doubled from 2,200 lei to 5,000 lei and the average salary grew from 8,000 to 14,000 lei. President Maia Sandu unveiled data to this effect, noting that the authorities would continue working in order to develop the economy of Moldova.      

„Four years ago, I promised to support the opening of jobs and the investments in the economy, in order to keep the families at home. For the Moldovans’ incomes to grow, we must have a developed economy and prosperous businesses all over the country. Namely therefore, in the last years, we have backed over 10,000 native entrepreneurs through governmental programmes. The financings on behalf of the state for small- and medium-sized businesses increased five-fold against the previous governance, from 200 million le to 1.3 billion lei. The minimum salary doubled from 2,200 lei to 5,000 lei and the average salary grew from 8,000 to 14,000 lei. The competent institutions cut ten-fold the number of jobless people who were receiving social benefit, but who were able for work and were each time refusing the work bids. We simplified the rules of work for entrepreneurs; we reduced the bureaucracy and digitalized the services,’’ Maia Sandu in a video message.     

The Moldovan president also said that the state had come up with more assistance also for farmers, noting that, ‘’in 2023, the assistance allocated to the farmers reached a figure of 2 billion lei – the biggest volume since the proclamation of the Independence so far.’’  

At the same time, over 65 per cent of the Moldovan products are presently sold on the European market, ‘’which means that, in 2023 alone, 46 billion lei were earned by the Moldovan producers,’’ Maia Sandu said.     

„We opened the European market for a string of Moldovan products exported without duties. Moldova became the exporter No 1 of plums in EU. The export of sweet cherries, apples, apricots increased significantly. We got the right to export fresh chicken this year. In 2023, the state for the first time provided direct payments per one kg of milk and due to this fact, the production of milk grew by 16 per cent against 2022,’’ the head of state noted.    

According to the president, ‘’all these have the fundamental goal to provide people with opportunities to earn and to have united happy families at home.’’ ‘’We will continue working, in order to develop the economy in our country,’’ Maia Sandu added.
