„I am happy to see that this project, which we have planned and on which we have worked for more than one year, comes to life today and those about 100,000 books were brought to Chisinau and are to be distributed all over the country. Romania creates, in continuation, also cultural bridges and physical bridges in Moldova and we will continue doing this. In this way, we want to consolidate the special relation between Romania and Moldova,’’ Adrian Dupu said.

This donation is an investment in 300 hearts of our communities.’’ Sergiu Prodan said.

Ambassador of Romania to Moldova Cristian-Leon Turcanu said that the support provided by Romania’s government was found in all spheres of life in Moldova and was a natural backing, which will continue and which represents, in essence, an investment in the future of Moldova. ‘’The today’s event is a really symbolical on, not only through the dimension of the donation, which is impressive, but also through the fact that this moment represents a true investment in the future. This donation of books comprises our language, history and traditions. This is a project which harmoniously fits all Romania has done and does for Moldova.’’ the ambassador added.

The director of the National Library of Moldova (BNRM), Elena Pintilei, voiced hope that a part of the readers’ needs would be covered through this project.

Books in Romanian language for the libraries of Moldova is the vastest cultural project carried out by Romania in Moldova in the last 30 years, in order to assert and develop the Romanian ethnic, cultural and linguistic identity, as well as to contribute to the shaping of the new generation in Moldova.
