Classical music festival gathers over 5,000 spectators in Moldova
Chisinau, 19 June /MOLDPRES/ – The third issue of Classical Music Festival DescOpera, which took place for three days in the Orhei Vechi Natural Cultural Reserve in Butuceni locality, Orhei district, ended 18 June evening with Opera Nabucco in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi.
According to the organisers, over 1,000 spectators came to admire the work, directed by Andrea Battistini (Italy), on the stage design of the People's Artist Iurie Matei. The place of orchestra conductor of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre Maria Biesu held Friedrich Pfeiffer from Austria. The day of Sunday was traditionally dedicated to King of Waltz – Johann Strauss.
On Friday, the first evening, it was presented stage play "Carmina Burana", by Carl Orf, performed by Symphony Orchestra of the National Philharmonic Serghei Lunchevich, conducted by Friedrich Pfeiffer, Doina Coral Chapel and Soprano Tatiana Costiuc, baritone Andrei Otean and Romanian tenor Sorin Lupu.
Attending the event, Minister of Education, Culture and Research, Monica Babuc, thanked "for support and solidarity, sympathy and warmth to the United States Agency for International Development, the Swiss Development Agency and the National Office of Vine and Wine, which helps us to promote beautiful places and to feel happy together that we have such talents."
The ones present at the event learnt to interpret their ancestral doina and steps of ancient dances or habit of braiding. There were culinary master classes. The housewives of guest houses shared the experience of braided vine leaves rolls and other traditional Moldovan dishes. The day programme was held at guesthouses Casa Verde, Casa de sub Stanca, Casa din Lunca, Pivnitele Branesti, Eco Vila, Rotundu.
Totally, over 5,000 spectators applauded the artists within festival three days.
The event is part of campaign to promote Moldova as a tourist destination, "Fii Oaspetele Nostru" (Be our guest) and is organised under aegis of country tourism brand "Pomul Vietii" (Tree of life) and national brand "Vinul Moldovei" (Wine of Moldova).
The Classical Outdoor Music Festival, 3rd issue, was organised by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, in collaboration with the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet Maria Biesu and National Philharmonic Serghei Lunchevici in partnership with State Agency The United States for International Development (USAID), Government of Sweden and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation in Moldova. The host of the three classical music evenings was boarding house Eco – Resort Butuceni.
The first issue of classical outdoor music festival DescOpera took place in June 2016 and it was dedicated to 25th anniversary of the proclamation of independence of Moldova.
