International Festival New Music Days inaugurated in Moldova

Chisinau, 05 June /MOLDPRES/ – The XXVIIth issue of the International Music Days Festival taking place on 04 – 09 June in Moldova, was inaugurated 04 June evening at the Organ Hall in Chisinau.

Interviewed by agency, head of Moldovan Union of Composers (UCM), Pavel Gamurari, has mentioned that six concerts will take place, including three symphonies and three chamber ones. Thus, on first evening, five works were presented on stage of the Organ Hall, including three Moldovan composers – Vlad Burlea, Ghenadie Ciobanu and Vladimir Ciolac and two of composers from Romania: Irina Odagescu – Tutuianu and Viorel Munteanu.

"For the first time, it was presented the work of Vlad Burlea "Tie, Doamne, rogu – ma" (To You, my God, I pray), which was performed by soprano Simona Nicoletta Jivdeanu from Romania, National Chamber Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Andries and Choir of Teleradio Moldova, conductor – Gabriela Tocari. The concert is part of project "Romanian music on both sides of the Prut river", supported by the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) Mihai Eminescu, said Pavel Gamurari.

At his turn, director of ICR, academician Valeriu Matei, said that International Music Days Festival is a reference event in musical life of Moldova, and for sixth year it has been included in institution programme: "Romanian music on both banks of the Prut river". "We provide three symphonic concerts, from Organ Hall and the National Philharmonic, as well as a master-class of composer and musicologist, professor Sorin Lerescu (Romania), which will take place on 06 June at 14:00, at Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts", specified Valeriu Matei.

According to composer Ghenadie Ciobanu, founder and artistic director of the festival, it aims to familiarise specialists, music creators, performers, music critics of ours, but also audience with values ​​of contemporary musical art, internationalisation of musical creation and local interpretative art by connecting to musical processes around globe and to formation of a space of contemporary musical art.

Today, at 18:00, Chamber Hall hosts a chamber concert – a piano recital by Lidia Ciubuc. The entrance is free to all concerts.

The International Music Days Festival was founded in 1991.
