ANRE starts applying financial sanction on Moldovatransgaz

Chisinau, August 10 /MOLDPRES/- The National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) initiated the financial sanctioning procedure for Moldovatransgaz company. The decision was taken for non-compliance with legal obligations related to ensuring its independence in relation to the vertically integrated natural gas company Moldovagaz, this being a mandatory condition according to the Energy Package III.

According to ANRE, Moldovatransgaz did not comply with the legal separation requirements in accordance with one of the models established by the legislation and did not submit to ANRE the request for its certification, notifying about the impossibility of completing the separation process.

Under the legislation, ANRE can apply sanctions of at least 10% of the license holders' annual turnover for the non-compliance by the transmission system operator with the obligations related to ensuring its independence in relation to the vertically integrated natural gas company.

ANRE set the hearing for Moldovatransgaz administrator and the examination of the application of the financial sanction to the company on September 8, 2023.
