On 9 May, the deadline for submitting applications for the European Court Program, 502 projects were registered. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolea made the statement today during a press conference on the results of the application for the program.
'Last week, we had discussions to supplement this fund because the number of applications is very high. Therefore, today I announce Chisinau residents that this fund is increasing from 100 million to 250 million lei, while the ceiling of up to five million lei is maintained. All discussions with the capital's residents were about people's needs and the development of the city. Everyone understands that getting closer to the European Union does not only mean the construction of highways but also a positive change in people's lives here', said Vladimir Bolea.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the projects to be promoted by the Government are about people and their needs.
'It is an absolute premiere when we have promoted not only an urban infrastructure project but also a project of communication and development of urban communities. It is very important that these projects are supported by people and come to support people's needs', highlighted the Deputy Prime Minister.
The governmental program is aimed at rehabilitating the block courtyards in Chisinau, which will benefit from works funded by the initial means allocated by the Government through the Budget +PLUS, with the financial support of the European Union. Each selected courtyard will benefit from up to 5 million lei for works such as repairing access roads and stairs; modern street lighting; parking spaces, playgrounds, and urban furniture; access ramps etc.
In early April, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development launched the project call European Court, intended to support local initiatives for the revitalization of the block courtyards in Chisinau. The competition aimed to support local civic initiatives in the development of public and shared spaces in the block courtyards, to arrange them and create a quality and pleasant living environment. The total budget of the call was supplemented, from 100 million lei to 250 million lei.
