
IMF experts team to come to Chisinau to make first assessment of programme for Moldova
Chisinau, 02 February /MOLDPRES/ – A team of experts from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will arrive on 14 February for a fortnight visit in Chisinau to make the first review of the programme for Moldova, approved by IMF Board on 07 November 2016.
The IMF Resident Representative in Moldova, Armine Khachatryan, said in a press statement that "the mission will analyze the recent developments in the economy and the achieved progress by the authorities in implementing the program in the context of the first review of the authorities' program, supported by IMF through mechanisms financing EFF (extended Fund Facility) and ECF (extended Credit Facility)."
During their visit, they will introduce Ben Kelmanson to authorities, which took place of Ivanna Vladkova – Hollar as head of IMF mission, since January.
The assessment mission members will have meetings at the Government, Ministry of Finance, National Bank of Moldova, Ministry of Economy. According to IMF usage terms, in case of a positive report, which will be then examined by the Board of Directors of the Fund, it will be issued the second tranche of the loan.
The IMF Executive Board approved on 07 November 2016, an agreement for three years with Moldova, funded through two lending instruments – extended financing mechanism and extended credit facility, which aims to support economic reform program and financial resources. As such, Moldova obtained access to an amount of about $178.7 million. The first tranche in the amount of $35.9 million was paid immediately after the agreement approval.
