Chisinau, 12 August /MOLDPRES/- Cabinet members at today's meeting approved a draft law on accession of the Republic of Moldova to the Treaty on European Car and Driving License Information System -EUCARIS signed on 29 June 2000.
According to the draft, the government will take the necessary steps to implement the provisions of the Treaty.
The Republic of Moldova will nominate the National Center for Personal Data Protection as the national authority responsible for monitoring compliance with the rules on personal data protection provided under the Treaty.
Also, the country will nominate the Public Services Agency as the national registration authority responsible for management of central data banks in terms of vehicles and driving licenses required by the EUCARIS.
EUCARIS is a computer platform through which vehicle registration authorities in the EU Member States, signatories to the Treaty, can exchange information in real time to help verify the authenticity and condition of a vehicle (stolen, erased, seriously injured, etc.), in case of registration of the car in another member state.
