Moldovagaz to supply natural gas to Transnistrian region by late 2026

Moldovagaz Joint Stock Company will continue to be responsible for supplying natural gas to the Transnistrian region until 31 December 2026, after the Board of Directors of the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) approved today the extension of the company’s designation period.

The current designation period was due to expire on 30 June 2026.

According to ANRE, the measure aims to ensure the continuity of natural gas deliveries and to maintain the stability of the supply system in the Transnistrian region. By extending the mandate, the already existing operational and contractual mechanisms are preserved, including those related to gas transmission, system balancing, flexibility services, and other related activities.

ANRE emphasizes that the decision also provides predictability for planning the reservation of natural gas transmission capacities, an element considered important for the normal functioning of the supply system. The decision was adopted based on the provisions of the Natural Gas Law and on a proposal submitted by the Ministry of Energy, which requested the extension by another six months of the responsibilities exercised by the designated company.

At the same time, the entity responsible for supplying natural gas to the Transnistrian region is obliged to create and maintain natural gas stocks intended for consumers in the Transnistrian region.
