20 model schools to undergo major modernization: Government approves ratification of Financing Contract between Moldova and EIB
Thousands of pupils in the Republic of Moldova will study in safer, more modern schools and in better conditions. The draft law on the ratification of the Financing Contract between the Republic of Moldova and the European Investment Bank (EIB) for the project Rehabilitation and modernization of schools in Moldova was approved today by the Government.
The 20 educational institutions from different regions of the Republic of Moldova included in the program will benefit from extensive modernization works, ranging from thermal insulation of buildings and modernization of heating systems to renovation of classrooms, equipping laboratories and developing digital infrastructure, improving accessibility and creating more comfortable learning spaces. The project implementation will start in 2027.
The total value of investments allocated to the 20 schools exceeds 51.5 million euros. The project will be financed through a package that includes a 40 million euro loan provided by the European Investment Bank on favorable terms, a 3.5 million euro grant awarded through the Neighbourhood Investment Platform, and an 8 million euro contribution from the Growth Plan supported by the European Union.
The selected institutions are part of the network of 90 model schools, an initiative launched by the Ministry of Education and Research to create, in each district of the country, modern and attractive educational institutions aligned with European standards.
