
Measures of strengthening Moldova-EU cooperation in energy sector discussed in Brussels
Chisinau, 25 October /MOLDPRES/ - The deepening of Moldova’s relations with the European institutions in the energy sector, justice, as well as the progress made by the authorities in the European integration process have been discussed at a meeting of Prime Minister Dorin Recean and European Commission Vice President Maroš Šefčovič, European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders and European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson in Brussels, the government’s communication and protocol department reported.
At the meeting with European Commission Vice President Maroš Šefčovič, PM Dorin Recean referred to the progress recorded by the government in the process of carrying out the European agenda and the way the authorities, with the European Union’s support, managed the economic and energy crises, as a result of Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine.
„Moldova and the European Union are involved in the speeding up of the agenda of green and digital transformation of our economies. We continue the reforms underway in the strategic fields, for the benefit of the citizens and along with the European partners,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.
European Commission Vice President Maroš Šefčovič welcomed Moldova’s resolution of European integration. He stressed that, in the last years, the Moldova-EU relation had been unprecedentedly deepened, including in such sectoral fields as energy, economy and security.
At the meeting with European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders, PM Dorin Recean said that the justice reform continued to represent one of the top priorities of Moldova.
„We are resolute to create a correct and equitable justice system, which will represent a solid foundation on our irreversible way of integration into the European Union,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean noted.
At the meeting, PM Dorin Recean and European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson discussed measures of strengthening the cooperation with the European Union in the energy sector. The prime minister pointed out that the ensuring of the security of supply with electric energy and natural gas for this winter, as well as the enhancement of the energy efficiency and the development of the renewable energy were constant priorities of the government. The PM referred also to the cabinet’s strategy to create the fund for energy efficiency, through which the present potential of saving energy will be exploited through diverse measures which target including the residential buildings from Moldova.
For her part, the European commissioner for energy appreciated Moldova’s progress made in the reform of the energy sector, as well as its adjusting to the EU’s acquis.
