Moldovan deputy foreign minister attends conference East Forum Berlin 2016

Chisinau, 19 April /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Lilian Dari attends the fourth issue of the conference East Forum Berlin, titled, An Economic Area in Transition – Shaping the Future between Europe and the East. The event is held in the German capital on 18-19 April, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.   

This year issue of the Berlin forum is focused on the analysis of the political and economic realities in the area from Lisbon to Vladivostok, as a result of the appearance of new separation lines in European, triggered by the Ukraine crisis. Also, the debates within the meeting are aimed at identifying new ways of boosting economic cooperation between the business communities from European and Asian states, in order to create new opportunities of economic growth and removing the present obstacles, both economic and geopolitical.        

In his speech given at a meeting on trade and energy aspects in Eastern Europe, Deputy Minister Lilian Darii reaffirmed Moldova’s interest in developing advantageous commercial and economic relations with the European Union member states, as well as with the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), under free trade agreements signed with these states. Darii spoke out for fully enforcing the provisions of the agreements on free trade areas and abstaining from putting commercial restrictions on geopolitical grounds. The Moldovan official highlighted Moldova’s efforts to diversify the energy sources, in line with the European policies, with the major objective to consolidate the energy security.    

During meetings with representatives of the companies Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Chinese Railway, Commerzbank and Deutche Bank, Deputy Minister Lilian Darii informed about the Moldovan authorities’ firm determination to persevere on the way of reforms needed for the country’s sustainable development, including through improving the investment climate.
