
Moldovan government observes commitments towards producers of plums, early apples
Chisinau, 23 October /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Iurie Leanca summoned the leadership of the Agriculture and Food Ministry to a meeting. The participants ruled that a meeting of the central commission would be held, during which the files submitted by farmers for compensations' payment will be approved. The farmers will receive the money according to the principle "first come - first served." Starting from 27 October, the Agency for Interventions and Payments in Agriculture will issue orders, after which the Finance Ministry will immediately start their payment, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
The payments will be made in line with the cabinet decision on a regulations concerning the way of providing the financing support to the producers of fruits and vegetables from 3 September 2014.
Thus, the state will pay 1.5 lei for each kilogram of sold apples and 1.2 lei for each kg of plums, to compensate the damages inflicted to farmers. The total sum earmarked by the government to this end is 138 million lei.
Also, the prime minister asked Agriculture Minister Vasile Bumakov to speed up the discussions with the World Bank on the providing of a financial assistance worth 10 million dollars to compensate the difference and losses born by some categories of producers and processors.
