Moldovan PM participates in international conference of foreign investors
Chisinau, 8 November /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita today participated in an international conference titled, Foreign Investors for Moldova’s Sustainable Development, organized by the Foreign Investors’ Association from Moldova (FIA). Attending the event were diplomats accredited in Moldova, as well as founders and managers of companies with foreign capital, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
In her greeting message, the PM stressed the contribution of foreign investors to Moldova’s development: ‘’They are the ones who do not only bring investments, jobs, but also know-how, productivity, new approaches and through this, they help us develop the country on a long term.’’
Natalia Gavrilita emphasized that, on the complicated period the country was going through, the most difficult thing was the high degree of uncertainty. ‘’The business likes stability, predictability and the reforms which define the future way of the society. That is why, the today’s event is even more important. As namely on crisis periods, we are available to think at solid goals on medium and long terms and take decisions which would favour us in the long run,’’ the prime minister said.
Natalia Gavrilita referred to the actions undertaken by the cabinet to back the small- and medium-sized businesses and enhance the competitiveness. In this respect, the PM touched upon the legislative packages and programmes launched in all key sectors, meant to get Moldova closer to the European values and institutions.
„Despite the present challenges, I have managed, along with my colleagues, to update the National Development Strategy till 2030. It is adjusted to the sustainable development goals in the fields of health, education, social protection, infrastructure and good governance. We realize that all these objectives are connected between them and some desiderata cannot be achieved, if there are no jobs, proper incomes and if the people must think about survival and not about long-term goals. Therefore, I urge you to develop the country’s infrastructure and improve the framework of regulation. We should get out of these crises stronger and lay the foundations of an accelerated development of the economy,’’ the prime minister added.
About 10,000 companies with foreign capital, with investors coming from 60 countries, are presently registered in Moldova. In the last three years alone, more than 80 per cent of the investments made in Moldova have been from the European Union.
