Moldovan president meets representatives of Romany community

Chisinau, 13 April /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today had a meeting with representatives of the Romany associations and communities from Moldova. MOLDPRES.

According to the presidential press service, the participants in the discussion tackled the problems faced by the Romany communities and informed about the activities they carried out to defend and promote the right of Romanies. The head of state appreciated the effort taken by the organizations in the sector for the integration of all Romanies into the society.

The discussions were focused especially on the issue of schooling Romany children, as well as on the access to medical services. The participants in the discussion also unveiled more aspects regarding the work of the community mediator – the point of connection between the local authorities and communities of Romanies in the process of identifying solutions to frequent problems.

President Maia Sandu thanked those present for involvement in the support of Ukrainian refugees belong to the Romany ethnic minority and urged them to promote the European values among the community of Romanies.
