President participates in sixth edition of European Political Community Summit in Albania
President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu is participating today in the sixth edition of the European Political Community (EPC) Summit, organized in the capital of Albania, Tirana.
The head of state has scheduled meetings with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of France Emmanuel Macron and Acting President of Romania Ilie Bolojan. Maia Sandu will meet with Prime Ministers of Belgium Bart De Wever, of Denmark Mette Frederiksen, Estonia - Kristen Michal, Italy - Georgia Meloni, Latvia - Evika Siliņa, Lithuania - Gintautas Paluckas, Norway - Jonas Gahr Støre, Poland- Donald Tusk, the United Kingdom - Keir Starmer and the Netherlands- Dick Schoof, as well as other European leaders.
The discussions primarily focus on strengthening peace and security in the region and across Europe, enhancing the economic resilience of the Republic of Moldova, promoting projects that improve quality of life, and advancing the process of joining the European Union.
The European Political Community was created at the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron and serves as a platform for political dialogue about peace and security on the continent, as well as cooperation between EU states and those outside the community space. The inaugural summit of the Community took place in Prague in October 2022, and the second edition was hosted by our country in June 2023.
