Prime Minister: Our citizens can travel more easily, diaspora has more opportunities to return home

After meeting with Prime Minister Dorin Recean, Wizz Air company announced the expansion of its operations in our country and the launch of six new flights to six European cities - Hamburg, Turin, Frankfurt Hahn, Nice, Prague and Copenhagen. Additionally, two new aircraft will be added to the airbase in the Republic of Moldova, which will allow for increased flight frequency on nine already existing routes: Brussels, Larnaca, Bologna, Berlin, Paris, Barcelona, Dortmund, Memmingen and Verona.

The announcement was made following a meeting between Prime Minister Dorin Recean and administrator of Chisinau International Airport Eugen Doga Sergiu Spoială and director of Wizz Air airline József Váradi.

The official reiterated the authorities' commitment to ensuring further as many international connections as possible for citizens and thus stimulating the country's economic development.

"The decisions we made today connect us even more with Europe. Our citizens can travel more easily, and the diaspora has more opportunities to return home," said Recean.

According to the prime minister, the modernization of aerial infrastructure will remain a government priority. In the coming years, a new passenger terminal will be constructed, and the runway will be rehabilitated at Chisinau Airport Eugen Doga, so that up to 6 million passengers can be served annually. At the same time, a modern air logistics hub will be developed at Mărculești Airport, which will become a regional center for freight transport and bring economic benefits.

In the last two years, new airlines have begun operating at Chisinau International Airport, with flights to European cities. Companies already present in our market have supplemented their flights and brought more advantageous prices for passengers.
