Candidate of Action and Solidarity Party for Moldovan president's office urges mayors to mobilize communities, save Moldova

Chisinau, 29 October /MOLDPRES/ - The candidate of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) for the Moldovan president’s office, Maia Sandu, has stressed that ‘’only if each mayor mobilizes its community, we can save Moldova.’’ ‘’The development is made with resources coming from the European Union. The resources do not come from Russia,’’ Maia Sandu said.    
„Mr./Mrs. mayor, now time is ripe for you. Gather people, gather the community which gave you confidence to lead them and save the settlement. One year ago, Shor’s ring planned to buy your villages and cities. At the then local elections, we managed to save the democratic vote in most settlements. At that time, they wanted to steal village after village; now, they want to steal the entire country. Only together, only if each mayor mobilizes his/her community, we can save Moldova. The development is made with resources coming from the European Union. The resources do not come from Russia. My counter-candidate was not able to name any project financed by Russia,’’ Maia Sandu said.      
The PAS candidate referred to the projects financed by the European Union, in order to develop the settlements of the country. Maia Sandu called on the mayors from all over Moldova ‘’to gather the community, in order to save the settlement and the democracy.’’  
„You know these things and understand the emergency of the moment. If we miss the chance to get closer to Europe, we will not have financial assistance for water and sewerage, for kindergartens and schools, for roads, for all these too expensive projects for the budget of the settlement and even of the whole country. I want all mayors to be able to enjoy these things, no matter what party they come from, as when we have resources, they go to everybody, while when we do not have them, nobody will have them. I promise you that I will correct the mistakes. In democracy, everybody matters; if we lose the democracy, no voice will matter any longer. This is your time; go to each man, gather the community and save the settlement. Together, we save the democracy,’’ Maia Sandu said.        
The runoff of the presidential elections will be held in Moldova on 3 November. The current Moldovan president, Maia Sandu, who grabbed 42.49 per cent of the votes or 656,852 suffrages in the first round of the polls and the Socialists’ candidate, Alexandr Stoianoglo, who picked up 25.95 per cent of the votes or 401,215 ballots, will fight in the runoff election.
