Deputy Prime Minister approached commercial and investment cooperation between Moldova and China
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi will pay an official visit to the People’s Republic of China on 21 - 25 May, at the invitation of Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi.
The purpose of the visit is to strengthen bilateral dialogue and promote economic, trade, investment, cultural, educational and tourism cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the People’s Republic of China.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Beijing Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi will hold meetings with Chinese officials in the fields of foreign affairs, agriculture, trade, culture and international development, as well as with representatives of the business and academic communities.
In Shanghai, the head of Moldovan diplomacy will participate in the Moldova–China Economic Forum and will have meetings with local authorities, Chinese investors and members of the Moldovan diaspora.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes that the last visit to the People’s Republic of China by a Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova took place in 2018.
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the People’s Republic of China were established on 30 January 1992. The two countries have signed 61 agreements in areas such as trade and economic cooperation, mutual protection of investments, avoidance of double taxation on income and capital, air services, consular affairs, youth, education, tourism, health, culture, etc., as well as five draft agreements.
