European Union increased allocations to support Eastern neighborhood countries, including Moldova
Chisinau, Nov. 15 /MOLDPRES/- After 13 hours of negotiations, last night an agreement was reached between the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union on the EU Budget for 2023. The budget agreement includes an increase of 280 million euros in allocations to support the countries of the Eastern and Southern Neighborhood, of which 210 million euros are allocated for the Eastern Neighborhood, including the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.
The announcement was made by MEP Siegfried Muresan. He said that the increase in allocations was made at the proposal of the EPP Group in the European Parliament, and the money can be used for investments in modernization, in schools, hospitals, and for the management of the crisis caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the implementation of reforms necessary for European integration.
"The Republic of Moldova is a candidate state and will become a member country of the European Union. We need to increase support for Moldova in the coming years to help them overcome the crises they are facing and prepare for joining the European Union," Muresan said.
