Alegeri parlamentare 2025

Former US Ambassadors support Moldova ahead of parliamentary elections

A victory of pro-Russian forces would shake regional security, threaten NATO's eastern flank, and provide Kremlin with a new foothold for aggression against Romania and Ukraine. This warning comes from former United States ambassadors who have served in different periods in the Republic of Moldova, Romania and OSCE. The diplomats have signed a letter in support of our country.

“We stand with President Maia Sandu, the Government, the Parliament, and every citizen who chooses democracy, justice, European integration, and true sovereignty. There is no middle ground between freedom and tyranny — Moldova's choice is the free world's choice: freedom.

The parliamentary elections on September 28, 2025, will decide the country's future. A victory of pro-Russian forces would shake regional security, threaten NATO's eastern flank, and provide Kremlin with a new foothold for aggression against Romania and Ukraine,” the letter reads.

The letter is signed by Adrian Zuckerman, Mark Gitenstein, Kathleen Kavalec, Jim Rosapepe, James D. Pettit, James Stuart Gilmore III, Michael R. Carpenter, and Kent D. Logsdon, former US ambassadors to Romania, the Republic of Moldova and OSCE.

In the document, the diplomats emphasize that the Republic of Moldova is on the front line of a historical confrontation:

“Defending democracy in the face of the hybrid war waged by Putin's regime — propaganda, corruption, intimidation, and destabilization. We stand with President Maia Sandu, the Government, the Parliament, and every citizen who chooses democracy, justice, European integration, and true sovereignty.”

The ambassadors call on citizens to support the European path of the Republic of Moldova:

“In the face of lies, we choose Truth. In the face of tyranny, we choose Freedom. In the face of fear, we choose Democracy. We stand with the Republic of Moldova — join us!”
