Moldova to sign new financial support and reform agreement with European Union

The parliamentary committee on foreign policy and European integration has approved the consultative opinion for initiating negotiations and signing the Facility Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union, within the Reform and Growth Facility.

The agreement will set out the principles of cooperation between the European Commission and Chisinau authorities, aimed to implement the Reform Agenda of the Republic of Moldova.

Through this partnership, the Republic of Moldova will receive support for: strengthening the rule of law and good governance; transition to a green and digital economy; strengthening economic and social resilience; accelerating convergence with the European Union.

The financial support provided by the EU through this facility amounts to 270 million euros in grant funding, complemented by loans worth 1.5 million euros. The funds come from the Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument – Global Europe (NDICI – Global Europe).

Once signed, the Agreement will be submitted to parliament for ratification.
