
Moldovan electoral body approved regulation on organization, implementation of postal voting
Chisinau, Aug 5 /MOLDPRES/- Central Electoral Commission (CEC) approved today the Regulation on organization and implementation of postal voting. The regulation applies to Moldovan citizens residing in the United States of America, Canada, the Kingdom of Norway, the Kingdom of Sweden, the Republic of Finland and the Republic of Iceland.
The document sets out the specifics of the organization and conduct of postal voting, as well as the responsibilities of electoral bodies and other entities involved in organizing this process.
The document aims to detail the electoral procedures on pre-registration for postal voting, preparation of electoral lists and electoral materials related to postal voting, securing the process of postal voting, the mechanism of transmission and receipt of electoral materials, including the manner of keeping and ensuring the integrity of these materials, as well as the procedures for counting, totaling and centralizing the results of postal voting.
The Regulation shall apply to citizens of the Republic of Moldova residing in the territory of the United States of America, Canada, the Kingdom of Norway, the Kingdom of Sweden, the Republic of Finland and the Republic of Iceland, in the elections for the office of President of the Republic of Moldova and the constitutional republican referendum set for October 20, 2024.
The CEC recalls that registration for postal voting is compulsory. Moldovan citizens from the six above-mentioned countries can register on the online platform Pre-registration by visiting www.inregistrare.cec.md.
