
Moldovan electoral body cancels organization of local elections due on 16 May 2021
Chisinau, 5 April /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC), at a today’s meeting, ruled to cancel the process of organization of the new local elections for the office of mayor of the Hartop village, Cimislia district, Negurenii Vechi village, Ungheni village and Camenca village, Glodeni district, scheduled for 16 May 2021.
According to CEC, the decision comes in the context of the Moldovan parliament’s Decision No 49 from 31 March 2021, under which emergency state was declared all over Moldova for the period 1 April – 30 May 2011. The Commission cancels all its decisions dealing with the organization of local polls from 16 May 2021.
Subsequently, after the end of the emergency state, the Central Electoral Commission will establish the date of the new local polls.
