Moldovan-Hungarian cooperation in focus for foreign ministers of Chisinau and Budapest

The Moldovan-Hungarian cooperation and the European path of Moldova have been at the center of a telephone conversation between the Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister of Moldova Mihai Popsoi and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Anita Orbán, recently appointed to this position in Budapest.

The Moldovan diplomacy head congratulated the Hungarian official on taking office and wished her success in her work, while also extending an invitation for an official working visit to Chisinau.

The discussions focused on the state of bilateral relations, developments on  Moldova’s European agenda and strengthening cooperation both on the political track and in economic and sectoral areas of common interest.

The sides agreed to organize, in the near future, interministerial political consultations, as well as a meeting of the Moldovan-Hungarian joint intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation.

During an exchange of opinions on Moldova’s European path, Mihai Popsoi expressed appreciation for Hungary’s support in advancing the process of accession to the European Union and reaffirmed the Moldovan authorities’ commitment to continue reforms.

“Moldova and Hungary have good relations, which we want to consolidate through close cooperation, mutual trust and the development of concrete projects. We are further counting on Hungary’s support in advancing our country’s European path,” said Mihai Popsoi.

The officials reconfirmed their interest in deepening the political dialogue and expanding economic and trade cooperation, for the benefit of the citizens of both states.
