Moldovan president welcomes creation of EU's support HUB for internal security and borders management in Moldova
Chisinau, 11 July /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has welcomed the signing of the agreement on the creation of a Centre for Justice and Internal Affairs of the European Union in Chisinau. The head of state said that the Centre would bring more stability and security in Moldova and in the region, the presidential press service has reported.
„The status of country candidate for the European Union yields the first fruits,’’ the Moldovan president said in her message. Maia Sandu’s speech was focused on the fact that Interior Minister Ana Revenco and European Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johannsson signed the agreement on the foundation of the Centre for Justice and Internal Affairs in Chisinau within the EU’s Council of Justice and Home Affairs from Prague. ‘’It is for the first time ever when our country participates, for the first time ever, in the Council of Justice and Home Affairs and also for first time ever, the European Union opens, outside its borders, a HUB of support for internal support and borders management – in Moldova,’’ President Maia Sandu noted.
According to the head of state, the creation of the Centre for Justice and Internal Affairs is happy news, as this means more safety and more stability for us and for the neighbour country, as well as more protection from the threats brought by the war in Ukraine. ‘’We thus contribute to the strengthening and extension of the European security area, which will comprise Moldova from now on as well,’’ Maia Sandu stressed.
At the same time, the Moldovan president said that the today’s decision was a proof of the trust of the European partners in Moldova and another concrete step towards the country’s European integration. ‘’Other discussions and decisions come next, on other sectors, which will strengthen even more our European integration,’’ President Maia Sandu said.
