Moldovan Prime Minister cast vote in presidential elections, referendum
Chișinău, Oct 20 /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Dorin Recean cast his vote today in the presidential elections and constitutional republican referendum. He said he voted for a strong and developed country. He urged all citizens to participate in the vote.
"I voted today alongside the citizens of the Republic of Moldova who are determined to show that democracy is a force, and together we can succeed in building the European Union right here at home. I voted for us to have a strong, developed country, and without hesitation, I voted for the Republic of Moldova to emerge victorious," said Dorin Recean.
He arrived to vote with his wife and encouraged all citizens to go to the polling station, pick up two ballots—one for the presidential election and one for the referendum—so that "together we can determine the path for the development of our country."
He had a message for the 42,000 young people participating in the elections for the first time and for citizens in the diaspora, urging them to vote.
Recean said "the Republic of Moldova has already demonstrated its capacity to ensure peace and security, regardless of how great the attempts at destabilization may have been."
Today, presidential elections and constitutional republican referendum are being held in the Republic of Moldova. Citizens will respond to the question, "Do you agree with amending the Constitution for Moldova's accession to the European Union?"
According to Central Electoral Commission's data, over 717,000 citizens had cast their votes by 1:00 PM.
