Moldovan speaker in front of education protesters: We will seek solutions for everyone
Chisinau, Dec. 13. /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Igor Grosu has addressed representatives of the education sector who are protesting today in front of the parliament, demanding higher salaries. The speaker assured the protesters that the government will seek solutions in this regard.
"You have all our respect. We will seek solutions for all teachers starting with early education and ending with scientific staff," Grosu said.
Several Moldovan teachers protested today in front of the Parliament. The decision to take to the streets comes amid a lack of response from the authorities to the teachers' demand for a 35% pay rise.
According to the Education and Science Trade Unions, in addition to the protests, flash mobs will be organized in schools across Moldova. The national budget for next year foresees an increase of only 9% in salaries for teachers and 4.6% for non-teaching staff.
