Moldovan speaker: Postal voting to be maintained in parliamentary elections
Speaker Igor Grosu announced that postal voting will be maintained for the upcoming autumn elections because it has proven its validity. The relevant authorities will work on the technical aspects to make it more accessible.
Postal voting will be maintained and it is already a committed decision.
'The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) will finalize the law. We will follow the law voted in the previous election. Details that concern geography will follow, as we need to ensure there is a functional postal system that we can trust. I know there are discussions to intervene in the period in which the envelope reaches the voter. Evidently, the vote has proven its validity, and the return rate is good,' Grosu said.
During the presidential elections and the constitutional republican referendum on 20 October 2024, postal voting was implemented for Moldovan citizens residing in the United States, Canada, the Kingdom of Norway, the Kingdom of Sweden, the Republic of Finland and the Republic of Iceland.
